Making Cake

Well, I am up to my eyeballs in cake. I am making my very first wedding cake. It is for Bronson and Sarah's Wedding. They must really trust me. I am not too nervous about it... yet. Yesterday I baked the cakes (8 of them), then filled and stacked them. Then put the first layer (crumb coat) of icing on them. It was almost 20lbs. of icing... OMG!!! And I still need to put more on tomorrow. Then I plan on putting ribbon, dots, and flowers. With Mario and Princess Peach as the topper, I think it will turn out to be pretty cute. The thing I am most nervous about is stacking them. I pray pray pray pray pray that they go where I want and that it doesn't fall over. Please, Lord, don't let it fall over. I am excited, though, to see how it turns out.

Blogging.... hmmmm. i guess i thought that i would be better at this than i am. ya know, it actually takes time to sit and write down what's going on each day. the kids have been keeping me quite busy these days. at the beginning of the summer i was thinking of the things i could sign caleb up for to keep him busy. well, keep him busy, i did! i didn't realize what i was doing to myself. let's see:
Mondays - art lesson at 11:30 & tee ball after dinner
Tuesdays - both boys spend the day with Grandma Karen (aka: Mimi)
Wednesdays - art lesson at 11:30 and a playdate with his BFF afterwards
Thursdays - golf lesson with Scott at 1:30 (and then Scott has double header softball games in the evening)
Fridays - tee ball and time with Papa and Mama
So as you can see i have him busier than i thought, and in turn i have myself trying to figure out each day when Josh will get his nap in, and when the boys have time to actually be home and have a little down time. but, all in all, we are having fun. we have been swimming here and there at caleb's bff's grandma's house, which has been great! it allows me to get the sun that i want and the boys to swim, which they love! joshua is doing so well in the water. he loves to jump off of the diving board and to float on his back. and caleb has always been such a great swimmer.
it's hard to believe that school is going to start back in almost a month. caleb says that he doesn't miss it at all. i have been trying to be sure that he reads at least once a day. he is an awesome reader! and then there is joshua who feels the need to call mama at least once a week and tell her that he is going to preschool. he will be going two mornings a week starting in september. my boys are getting so big!
i am doing a new bible study called "having a mary heart in a martha world" i am very excited about it and i know that the Lord has a lot waiting for me in the book. when i read the first chapter and the intro, it is exactly me! i pray that i am open to changing my heart and my will to what God wants and needs it to be.

We're home! We had such a great time with the kids at the beach. We thought that we would stay overnight in a hotel on Friday night to give the kids a break, but they were being "real good boys" in the car and we decided to drive the whole way home. We were exhausted when we got here, but it was nice to wake up in our own beds this morning.
We started the day of running, with Josh and I making a milk and cereal run at 7am. From that point, we went to the Y to work out, to Kmart to pick some "stuff" up, the kids and I gave Scott some room to breathe and went to the Freedom Fest at Boettler park, then we went to see Tanya and Chad's beautuful new baby boy, Samuel. After that, Scott and I made some homemade Baked Ziti - YUM! - and finally sat down to eat at 7pm. Whew! What a day! It's good to be home. The beach gets a little boring after awhile, especially for a crazy person like myself, who needs to have something to do at all times :)
I'm trying to think if my favorite memories from vacation. There was so much fun stuff that we did, so I guess I will do it like this: my favorite thing with Scott - we went to a Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse - delicious!, my favorite thing with Caleb - riding around in the lazy river and being goofy, my favorite thing with Joshua - playing in the sand and watching the waves.
I plan on posting some pictures as soon as I get off my lazy butt and download them off my camera.

We're Here!

We are finally here at the beach. We left at 3:30pm on Friday and got here at 3:30am Saturday. The trip was a little rough at times, Joshua HATES riding in the car. There was a couple times when he had fallen asleep, so I turned his DVD player off. He woke up, and was mad that I turned it off, and asked (told) me to turn it back on. YET, when I did that, the screen just about blinded him because it was so bright. So... he asked to put his sunglasses on. SOOOO FUNNY! I have a picture! I can't imagine having to sit a car seat with straps all over me for over 10 hours. So, I can't blame the kid! As for Caleb, he did a great job the whole time. I can't complain at all. He watched over 6 movies, he didn't want to fall asleep in fear of missing the beach. He did finally fall asleep though. (OH, and by the way, Scott was quite a trooper... drove the whole way!)
So, then we get here and the boys are WIDE awake! Scott went to sleep after we unloaded the car and my parents and I stayed up with the boys for awhile until we made them go back to sleep. We got another 5 hours of sleep, Caleb is still snoozing away and the rest of us are ready for the beach! YAY, Beach!!! We are all so ready to go and be beach bums!

Leaving for Vacation

Whoot Whoot! We are leaving for the beach tomorrow! I am so excited! Even though there will be tons of packing to do tonight and crabby kids in the car tomorrow... it will all be worth it when we step our feet into the lovely sand and feel the ocean breeze on our faces. It's so fun to watch the kids play on the beach and see the excitement of the ocean waves on their faces.
